Hoskinson Health & Wellness Clinic is seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our medical data processing.
Key Responsibilities- Review and analyze patient records to identify diagnoses, procedures, and services.
- Assign accurate codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services using standardized coding systems.
- Enter coded data into electronic health records (EHR) and billing systems.
- Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations and payer requirements.
- Prepare and submit claims for insurance reimbursement based on coded data.
- Collaborate with billing and accounts receivable teams to address coding-related queries.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date coding records and documentation.
- Generate reports on coding accuracy, productivity, and compliance.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification from a recognized coding organization, such as the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), is required.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical coding.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and data entry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and coding/billing software.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers and billing teams.
- This role typically operates in a standard office environment.
- Some travel may be required for meetings or training.
- Occasional extended hours may be necessary to meet deadlines.
