JOB DESIGNATION
The Quality Technician delivers technical assistance to the quality engineering functions. This role involves conducting examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials, components, and parts at various stages of the production process to ensure adherence to established quality and reliability standards.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials, and components across all types of standard and specialized products to ensure compliance with product requirements and quality standards.
  • Coordinate calibration activities and maintain calibration records for all tools, instruments, and gauges utilized for product acceptance and verification/validation.
  • Assist Engineering and Operations in investigating non-conformities.
  • Conduct internal audits to verify that all procedures and work instructions align with AS9100 standards.
  • Update quality procedures and work instructions in compliance with AS9100/ISO as necessary to reflect current and/or evolving processes, contributing to AS9100/ISO compliance and successful audits with minimal findings.
  • Execute visual and mechanical inspections at sub-assembly and final assembly stages using engineering drawings and testing protocols.
  • Inspect wires and sensors, such as force and pressure sensors, utilizing ring gauges, calipers, torque ranges, micrometers, and other tools.
  • Identify defects such as corrosion, cracks, dents, and scratches, verifying specifications using purchase orders, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Provide detailed analysis, troubleshooting, and evaluation of components, assemblies, and systems.
  • Maintain documentation records and data on tests performed.
  • Set up or construct special test panels to facilitate testing and/or evaluation as required.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedules, and additional hours as necessary.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will enable successful performance of job expectations.

Certifications: Vocational Training and/or apprenticeships in Quality Control Inspections or equivalent experience in a related field.

Years Experience: 4-6 years of relevant experience.

Skills:

  • Proficient in conducting examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials, components, and parts across all types of standard and specialized products.
  • Experience with various inspection tools, including gauges, calipers, height gauges, pin and block gauges, V-blocks, surface inspection tables, micrometers, and comparators.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards, as well as aerospace standards like AS9100 used in aviation, space, and defense sectors.
  • Familiarity with casting, forging, molding, stainless-steel, and electronic components utilized in the aerospace industry. Experience in creating First Article Inspection Reports in compliance with AS9102 and customer-specific requirements.
  • Experience in performing internal audits based on established criteria and documenting the results.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings using the language of Geometrical Dimensional Tolerancing (GD&T) as described in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.5 standards.
  • Experience completing first articles (FAI) in accordance with Aerospace Standards AS9102.
  • Proficient in using blueprints, drawings, and parts lists.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

WORK AUTHORIZATION: This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, a 'US Person' as defined by 22 C.F.R. is required. U.S. Citizenship/Permanent residency is required for most positions.

COMPENSATION: Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on various factors, including candidate experience, qualifications, and location, as well as market and business considerations.
