Job Overview

The Overnight Support Specialist for Children plays a crucial role in delivering direct assistance and care to meet the nighttime requirements of children aged 5-17 at New Horizons - Audrey Grace House.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will encompass planning, overseeing, and aiding your designated group of children with their nighttime routines. This includes helping them prepare for bed, addressing their nightly needs, managing household tasks as necessary, ensuring children are ready in the morning, and occasionally providing transportation to school using company vehicles.

Compensation: Starting at $15 per hour
Work Schedule: Minimum of 40 hours per week - 8:30 pm to 8:30 am

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing overnight supervision and support to a group of children, many of whom are dealing with emotional challenges
  • Planning and facilitating nightly activities for your assigned group
  • Assisting with household chores as required
  • Helping children prepare for the day in the morning
  • Occasionally driving children to school in company vehicles
  • Creating a safe, stable, and nurturing environment
  • Building positive relationships with children to aid in their healing process
  • Maintaining thorough and accurate documentation
  • Completing required training as mandated by state regulations
  • Adhering to the New Horizons' Philosophy and Employee Handbook

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Successful completion of criminal background checks, drug screening, and tuberculosis testing
  • Valid Driver's License is necessary
  • Understanding of cultural diversity and ability to work with varied populations
  • Skills in conflict resolution and crisis intervention
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, logical decision-making in crises, and capacity to work both independently and collaboratively
