Ruston Paving Co, Inc. is seeking a skilled Lowboy Driver to join our team. As a Lowboy Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting heavy equipment and materials to and from job sites.
Key Responsibilities- Perform daily truck equipment inspections to ensure safety and compliance with FMCSA guidelines
- Complete written daily inspection reports and submit requests for maintenance as needed
- Maintain truck logs and time recordings in accordance with state, federal, and company policies
- Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment for transport
- Operate trucks safely to and from project destinations
- Maintain contact with dispatch centers for instructions
- Pull levers or turn cranks to connect and disconnect trailers from tractors
- Moves hand and foot controls for truck movement forward and backward
- Properly tie down loads for transit using straps, chains, and binders
- Inspect loads for loose debris prior to transport
- Properly chock wheels when leaving the truck per company guidelines
- Maintain cargo areas free of debris and ensure cleanliness of both interior and exterior of trucks and trailers
- Perform post-trip vehicle inspections, noting any defects or deficiencies in writing
- Turn in written inspections to designated locations or personnel
- Perform all safety procedures required by governmental agencies and those established by Ruston Paving
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A or CDL A Restricted)
- USDOT Medical Examiner's Certificate
- Minimum 2 years of experience transporting heavy construction equipment and/or materials for paving and/or site excavation
Employees are regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Noise levels are generally loud. Employees are occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employees may occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
