Job PurposeThis Electrical Engineer provides power systems engineering and operations expertise to our distribution control center. Managing outages is vital for providing timely service to our customers. Our new Outage Management System (OMS) is integrated with other grid automation functions and will be integrated into mobile workforce management across our service territory.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the development, implementation, and management of new technologies.
- Engage with stakeholders, government agencies, and media within the development phases of a project.
- Contribute to the development of the engineering perspective of new business concepts.
- Define technical specifications in relation to a range of technologies.
- Determine the options to be considered for the project at initiation to satisfy the need case for investment.
- Ensure that a robust basis of design is produced for each scheme which documents the reasons for the investment, the options considered, costs, and program.
- Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited institution in Electrical Engineering or similar.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the electric power systems industry or direct experience with electric operations.
- Familiarity with Outage Management functions and processes.
- Experience in power systems engineering such as substations, transmission, and/or distribution system planning, design, and operation, load flow analysis.
- Good communication skills with various stakeholders, use of Microsoft Office applications for project management and coordination activities.
- Understanding of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) such as solar generation, energy storage systems interconnection, design, and DER operations is valuable.
- Familiarity with SCADA and field telemetry systems is valuable.
