Sonography Externship

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sonography Extern to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Sonography Extern, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of healthcare professionals and gain valuable experience in the field of diagnostic medical sonography.

• Operate ultrasound equipment to perform general and/or vascular procedures/studies
• Differentiate between normal and pathologic findings
• Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information
• Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures
• Ensure safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients
• Analyze sonograms and communicate findings to physicians

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in Sonography
• No experience required

• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) examination for Sonographic Principles and Instrumentation (SPI)
• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) examination for Vascular Technology (VT)
• Completion of a minimum of twelve (12) months training in an accredited program in Sonography
