POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organization meets its financial objectives. This includes maintaining the integrity of the accounting systems and ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the timely completion of month-end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
  • Enhance internal controls and streamline financial processes.
  • Manage data processing operations to guarantee accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational regulatory requirements.
  • Support functions in treasury, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, and tax compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for executive management.
  • Facilitate internal and external audits.
  • Lead and engage in special projects as required.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly oversee and evaluate the performance of accounting and payroll personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The qualifications outlined below are indicative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • CPA or MBA in accounting/finance, or a related field is highly preferred, along with 5 years of progressive experience in senior management roles within accounting or finance for organizations with substantial revenue.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or a related field, coupled with 10 years of relevant experience in senior management roles.
  • Hands-on experience in accounting functions including month-end closing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficient in analyzing financial data and preparing detailed financial reports and projections.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues to all management levels.
  • Ability to work independently on special projects with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with construction contract terminology.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial regulations at federal, state, and local levels.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Proficient in job cost, general ledger, and fixed asset systems.
  • Experience with financial and payroll software; familiarity with Viewpoint Vista is preferred.
  • Knowledge of P-Vault Enterprise Content Manager is advantageous.

COMPENSATION RANGE: $110,000-$140,000 annually
