Hourly Rate: $00 per hour, with an additional night shift differential of $0.35.

Work Schedule: 12am-8am, 10 days on and 4 days off, with 8-hour shifts.

The primary responsibility of a Medical Laboratory Specialist is to ensure product quality through effective monitoring, observation, and testing processes. This role requires strict adherence to all company policies as well as local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to facility programs including Safety, Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Preventive Maintenance, Quality Assurance, and Sanitation.
  • Ensure compliance with standards set by the American Institute of Baking (AIB), Quality Assurance International (QAI), FDA, USDA, CDPHE, and GMA SAFE.
  • Follow all customer-specific policies, procedures, and specifications.
  • Alert plant supervision and management of any deviations from accepted operational norms or product quality standards.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, function verification, and quality control tasks.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Oversee laboratory operations, documenting and addressing discrepancies in technician performance.
  • Record laboratory values as required in plant documentation.
  • Manage sample retention and laboratory inventory levels effectively.
  • Review Performance Verification and Preventive Maintenance records for accuracy and archive as necessary.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager and Plant Manager.
  • Safeguard and protect all company assets.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Two-year Applied Science Degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or Microbiology.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a food laboratory or a related field.
  • Ability to perform calculations relevant to laboratory analysis.
  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written, to prepare and understand documentation related to laboratory procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Competent in using plant equipment, laboratory instruments, and office automation tools.
  • Strong commitment to the values and ethics upheld by Dairy Farmers of America.

Must be capable of performing tasks independently without constant supervision.
