We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist II to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our operating rooms, providing exceptional patient care, and collaborating with our surgical team to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient operating room environment, adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Assist the surgical team with patient positioning, preparation, and transfer, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Participate in the preparation and maintenance of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order and properly sterilized.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure accurate and timely completion of surgical procedures, including counting and verifying surgical items.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, providing clear and concise information and responding to their needs and concerns.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and contributing to the development of solutions.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in surgical technology, instrumentation, and techniques, applying this knowledge to improve patient care and outcomes.
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- Current Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute care setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Associate degree in Surgical Technology or a related field.
- Four (4) years' experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute care setting.
- Committee and leadership experience, with a proven track record of success.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
