At Great Wolf Resorts, the Aquatic Facility Operations Supervisor is tasked with guiding a skilled team of technicians to ensure the waterpark operates smoothly while providing a secure and enjoyable atmosphere for all visitors. This role encompasses overseeing the installation, upkeep, and repair of aquatic systems, ensuring they meet all necessary quality benchmarks for optimal functionality and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage team members, including recruiting, onboarding, training, and maintaining adequate staffing levels within the department.
- Perform supervisory duties, including conflict resolution, coaching, fostering teamwork, and managing performance.
- Supervise the execution of all waterpark property and equipment repairs and preventive maintenance, while monitoring life safety systems.
- Ensure departmental administration complies with corporate and brand standards, as well as all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Delegate and perform maintenance and repair tasks on waterpark equipment as necessary.
- Possess knowledge of pool chemistry and general pool maintenance practices.
- Complete and maintain certification training in Aquatic Facility Operator and/or Certified Pool Operator programs.
- Execute tasks efficiently while adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Implement safe chemical handling practices and follow MSDS procedures as per GWR standards, OSHA, EPA, and relevant laws.
- Plan and execute successful annual shutdowns in coordination with relevant directors and contractors.
- Maintain records and documentation in accordance with corporate, industry, and governmental standards.
- Schedule staff to ensure operational excellence while adhering to budgetary constraints.
- Enforce procedures to secure inventory, including tools, supplies, and equipment.
- Monitor supplies and inventory efficiently to minimize waste and ensure readiness for the next operational shift.
- Assess work order volume and prioritize assignments for the team as needed.
- Inspect completed work by maintenance staff to ensure timely and specification-compliant execution.
- Manage shift operations, including staff scheduling, training, and coaching.
- Assist the Director of Engineering in reviewing feedback to address necessary actions in their area of responsibility.
- Support the Director of Engineering in managing labor, forecasting, and inventory processes.
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in general maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, or waterpark maintenance.
- Familiarity with chemicals, tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for comprehensive building and waterpark maintenance.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required.
- Prior experience in resort maintenance.
- Proficient in hands-on equipment maintenance.
- Able to develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs for regulations such as Ergonomics, Emergency Response, and Hazard Communications.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Capability to bend, stretch, and twist.
- Able to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs daily and walk frequently.
