The Medical Technologist will work under the guidance of the laboratory director or supervisor, performing tasks such as processing samples, conducting HLA testing procedures, and maintaining analyzers. The role also involves participating in quality control and assurance activities, and, if necessary, making preliminary interpretations of results along with other assigned duties. Once adequately trained, the employee will be expected to participate in weekend on-call and holiday rotations.

Paid licensure in Tennessee and continuing education support are provided.

Schedule: Full-time, 5 days per week; shifts commence at 2:00 PM.

Responsibilities

Key Expectations:

  • Conduct moderate and high complexity testing procedures as detailed in the procedure manual, promptly notifying the supervisor of any changes or issues.
  • Ensure sample identification is maintained throughout the testing process, taking necessary precautions to prevent contamination and mix-ups.
  • Follow the laboratory's quality control (QC) protocols to guarantee all QC standards are met, including documenting QC data and corrective actions when necessary.
  • Prepare reagents, control materials, and other necessary products for testing as required.
  • Perform and document analyzer maintenance promptly, alerting the supervisor of any issues.
  • Engage in required proficiency testing in the same manner as patient samples.
  • Identify and document any problems that may impact test performance or results, ensuring proper resolution procedures are followed.
  • Comply with established laboratory policies regarding hazardous substances in accordance with OSHA standards.
