Job Overview

General Summary

The Estimator II is responsible for conducting comprehensive planning and cost assessments for various service order projects. This role encompasses drafting proposals, designing project frameworks, soliciting subcontractor bids, overseeing project progress, and executing both interim and final inspections of all service order initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively identifies viable and economical technical solutions to meet facility work request specifications.
  • Collaborates with senior management and government representatives to define project scope.
  • Delivers precise project estimates and technical design solutions while adhering to established priorities, deadlines, and contractual obligations.
  • Analyzes current site or system conditions to devise solutions for the renovation, modification, or construction of facilities, systems, or infrastructure.
  • Engages in technical writing, including the development of technical work scopes, requests for proposals, and quotations.
  • May require working beyond standard hours to address urgent departmental needs.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Requires a combination of education and/or experience equivalent to eight (8) years in technical or construction domains, equipping the individual with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to generate detailed construction plans and accurate cost estimates.
  • Experience in drafting, including the creation of basic site plans, architectural layouts, MEP plans, isometric drawings, and schematics.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD drafting software.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Exchange, MS Excel, and MS Word.
  • Working knowledge of commercial construction estimating software and databases.
  • Understanding of all phases of commercial construction estimating, including budgetary and detailed estimates, change orders, and job costing analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record in accordance with company policies.
  • Must obtain and retain a security clearance and Common Access Card as per DoD regulations.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • May be required to wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety footwear, safety glasses, gloves, or other PPE as determined by the site Safety Manager or Supervisor.
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • May be exposed to environmental elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals, but not to an extent that is deemed uncomfortable.
  • May encounter minor safety hazards with potential for cuts, bruises, etc.
