LB&B Associates Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Maritime Training Specialist to support the US Navy's Navigational Seamanship Ship-Handling Training (NSST) program at the Surface Warfare Officers School (SWOS) in Newport, RI.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for US Navy Surface Warfare Officers and Enlisted Watch Standers in navigation, seamanship, and ship handling courses.
- Collaborate with the Surface Warfare Officer School to develop and revise curriculum, course schedules, and student management systems.
- Utilize advanced maritime simulator software and tools to create immersive and effective training experiences.
- Provide instruction in both classroom and laboratory settings, leveraging adult learning principles and practices.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of navigation, ship handling, and seamanship principles, including COLREGs and NSS TRD.
- Hold and maintain a secret security clearance.

- Practical experience as a qualified Navy Surface Warfare Officer or equivalent, with a strong background in navigation, seamanship, and ship handling.
- Proven experience in delivering curriculum in both classroom and laboratory settings.

- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with subject matter experts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Completed A VMS Operator Course or A VMS 9 Operator or approved equivalent.
- Proven experience in Navy Training Course Management, including curriculum development and revisions.
- USCG license or equivalent.
- Experience as a Second or First Mate on a merchant marine vessel with knowledge of navigation, seamanship, and ship handling principles.
