As a skilled Sterile Processing Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient flow of our Sterile Processing department, promoting improved quality and patient safety in the OR. This includes maintaining equipment and supplies, as well as a clean work area.

Job Summary: In this position, you will demonstrate skill in sterilization, instrumentation, and decontamination procedures, including routine tasks relating to the decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote improved quality and patient safety in the OR by ensuring the efficient flow of the Sterile Processing department.
  • Perform routine tasks relating to the decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies.
  • Maintain records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain Certification, and monitor, instruct, and mentor non-certified staff.
  • Foster awareness and understanding among staff regarding patient safety in the OR.
  • Prepare staff to pass survey/regulatory assessments.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.
  • One year of experience working in the Healthcare field, or completion of state certified program, required.
  • Computer skills, required.
  • Surgical Instrument Processor Certification, required.
  • BLS and CBSPD (Ohio).
