Job Summary:

The MetroHealth System is seeking a highly skilled Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant to join our Anesthesia Care Team. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with staff anesthesiologists to deliver exceptional anesthesia care for a wide range of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Perform pre-anesthetic assessments, discuss anesthetic management, and administer anesthesia under the medical direction of staff anesthesiologists.

• Assemble, prepare, and test necessary supplies, equipment, and monitors prior to anesthetic procedures.

• Select, obtain, and administer anesthetic plans of care, including induction, maintenance, and emergence phases of anesthesia.

• Administer various types of anesthesia, including inhalation, intravenous, spinal, epidural, and peripheral nerve blocks, all under the medical direction of staff anesthesiologists.

• Recognize alterations in physiologic responses to surgical procedures and/or anesthetics, take appropriate action, and notify responsible physicians as indicated.

• Transfer patients to postoperative areas and assist in postoperative care.

• Participate in quality improvement activities and research initiatives within MHS.

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited school with a bachelor's degree and prerequisite premedical undergraduate science background.

• Graduate of a medical school-based anesthesiologist's assistant education program accredited by CAAHEP.

• Current Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) certification and recertification by NCCAA.

• Current CAA licensure from the Ohio State Medical Board.

• Current ACLS & BLS certifications.

• Demonstrates current competency in clinical responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods and ability to lift and transport patients.

• Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

• Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

• Ability to work under extreme pressure.
