At Open Sky Community Services, we are committed to providing innovative and evidence-based practices to support individuals with disabilities in achieving their employment goals. As a Career Counselor/Employment Specialist, you will play a critical role in helping individuals develop the skills and confidence needed to secure and maintain meaningful employment.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with MassAbility and Department of Transitional Assistance to determine individuals' employment and/or educational goals.
- Determine individuals' vocational readiness through the development of relevant skills, including completion of job applications, resume writing, and interview preparation.
- Operate as a representative of Open Sky in meetings with funders related to work responsibilities and support for individuals served.
- Assist individuals in accessing and obtaining information about their benefits, such as SSI, SSDI, and others, and help them understand how benefits may affect their employment.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, required. Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field, highly preferred.
- Valid Driver's License, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation, required.
- Minimum of two years' experience working with individuals with disabilities, including behavioral health challenges, required.
- Ability to work in an independent work environment with proven ability to manage time and tasks, required.
- Ability to comfortably use technology for documentation and organization.
- Excellent supervision, professional development, and training opportunities.
