The Talent Acquisition team is expanding and is on the lookout for driven candidates to support their mission of identifying, evaluating, and hiring exceptional talent. This team plays a crucial role in delivering an outstanding recruitment experience for both candidates and hiring managers. You will be key in helping Smithfield achieve its ambition of becoming the leading consumer packaged goods company worldwide.

The primary responsibility of the Recruitment Specialist is to attract and secure a qualified talent pool through innovative market strategies. This role collaborates closely with HR Managers and Hiring Managers to understand workforce requirements and candidate profiles, developing strategies to fill the pipeline with qualified individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with HR managers to devise and implement innovative recruitment strategies to fill open positions.
  • Identify and evaluate high-quality candidates that align with our job specifications and experience requirements.
  • Provide recruitment consulting and support to hiring managers throughout the full recruitment cycle, including sourcing, assessment, and selection to efficiently recruit top talent.
  • May be responsible for initiating and reviewing background checks and scheduling candidates for orientation.
  • Develop candidate pools through various sourcing methods, including job boards, online sourcing platforms, social media, networking, external referrals, employee referrals, recruitment fairs, professional associations, college alumni associations, and diversity sourcing.
  • Possess a well-rounded understanding of all full lifecycle recruiting components, including sourcing, qualifying, networking, assessing, legal considerations, job analysis, and labor market dynamics.
  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships relevant to the recruitment process, including hiring managers, HR managers, industry contacts, and candidates.
  • Work in a plant environment to gain insights into the various positions we typically hire for, enhancing hiring fit and reducing turnover.
  • Assist in overseeing and maintaining affirmative action data to ensure compliance in all recruitment, promotions, and transfer processes.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and employment regulations and policies is required.
  • Familiarity with a server-based applicant tracking system is preferred.
  • Experience with fundamental interviewing skills is preferred.
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong initiative and sound judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships both within and outside the organization.
  • Strong multitasking and organizational abilities.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, discretion, and the ability to self-manage time from remote locations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while fostering strong working relationships and a positive work atmosphere.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for regional HR recruiting events or to temporarily work in other locations to meet company hiring needs. Overnight travel may be required.
