Overview

This position allows for candidates to be based outside of the local area, but it does necessitate travel and presence in the office for a designated period each month.

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Vice President of Underwriting & Product for our Non-Standard Auto division, you will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction for profitable growth. Your focus will encompass:

  • Formulating and implementing underwriting and product strategies for our non-standard auto offerings.
  • Collaborating with other executives to align product directions with profitability objectives.
  • Overseeing the assessment of insurance risks, including the authority to approve or decline applications within established limits.
  • Establishing the framework for developing rate books and other essential reference materials for underwriting decisions.
  • Leading a team in resolving underwriting challenges and analyzing system discrepancies.
  • Engaging with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with industry standards and state regulations.
  • Managing the MGA book of business to maintain high quality and profitability across market conditions.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree combined with over a decade of experience in insurance, particularly in underwriting or product management, is essential. An MBA is preferred. Familiarity with reinsurance pricing and established relationships with reinsurance carriers is advantageous.

This role will require travel commitments. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities is crucial. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for handling sensitive situations with discretion.
