Job Summary

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Environmental Services is seeking a Supervisor to oversee the work activities of hospital custodians, ensuring a safe, clean, and healthy environment for patients, guests, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in interviews and recommend hiring decisions
  • Assist in evaluating employee performance and recommending disciplinary actions, promotions, merit increases, coaching opportunities, and terminations
  • Develop work schedules and direct the daily work routine of custodial employees
  • Train and orient new employees
  • Develop and conduct formal training sessions to improve employee knowledge and skills
  • Inspect assigned areas and complete inspection reports
  • Coordinate and oversee hospital custodial functions that meet specialized departmental needs

We are responsible for maintaining the upkeep and cleaning of over 2.8 million square feet of the hospital. Our department provides 24/7 operations and is committed to providing the highest quality of environmental care services to maintain a functional and safe environment.
