Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide leadership and clinical expertise in psychiatric care. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and measuring safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies to solve challenging patient care issues.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
- Provide education and coaching to patients and families with complex needs
- Prescribe and recommend pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions within scope of practice
- Lead and facilitate coordinated care for individuals and populations to improve health care outcomes
- Act as a clinical resource and educator for nurses and other team members
- Develop and implement evidence-based policies, procedures, and best practice models
- Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited CNS program
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible compact state
- Current APRN licensure in Virginia for CNS
- Minimum five (5) years nursing experience in psychiatric nursing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage administrative tasks
- Doctorate in Nursing
- Certification in specialty area
- Experience in an Academic Medical Center or inpatient psychiatric setting
This role will be based in a general office environment with occasional travel to off-site locations. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a team-oriented environment and maintain confidentiality of patient and personnel information.
