The Opportunity:
We are seeking an Accounting Manager for our Global Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) division. This pivotal role is part of the North America Finance Leadership team, collaborating closely with DTC commercial stakeholders and interfacing with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Pricing/Promotion Finance teams, along with other segments of the Finance organization. The position reports to the Accounting Director for North America Commercial Finance, with a primary focus on North America and a significant involvement in establishing global standards for our DTC operations.
Your Impact:
Key responsibilities encompass month-end and quarter-end close processes, management report reviews, journal entry preparation and posting, key balance sheet account reconciliations, and performance analysis. Ensuring the accuracy of financial records and compliance with internal controls (including Minimum Control Standards and SOX regulations) is crucial. Additionally, you will contribute to forecasting efforts for the DTC commercial group.
The role includes:
Month-End Close: Collaborating with the FP&A team to manage overall reporting and variance analysis, presenting key financial metrics across the DTC commercial organization. Control Environment Oversight: Ensuring adherence to financial governance processes, enhancing and maintaining compliance with Minimum Control Standards and SOX Controls. Forecasting Support: Partnering with stakeholders on financial forecasting and serving as the primary contact for day-to-day business finance inquiries. Global Standards Development: Defining and implementing global best practices for our DTC operations as part of the DTC Center of Excellence. Leadership Development: Guiding the DTC Accountant in goal setting, career development, and providing timely feedback.The DTC segment is strategically significant for Mattel, with revenues exceeding $100M and strong growth potential.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting. 8+ years of experience in accounting roles; CPA certification or progress towards it is advantageous. Proven ability to collaborate, lead meetings, and build relationships across the organization to achieve business objectives. Capacity to navigate between high-level strategy and detailed execution while maintaining quality standards. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels. Demonstrated project ownership and execution capabilities. Strong accountability for delivering on strategic priorities. In-depth accounting knowledge, with experience in DTC or consumer packaged goods being a plus. Proven leadership skills in developing direct reports. Familiarity with HFM/HPT/Oracle systems is beneficial. Advanced proficiency in MS Office Excel. A growth mindset, characterized by curiosity, continuous learning, and a willingness to embrace challenges.The annual base salary range for this position is between $120,000 and $150,000. This range reflects projected hiring expectations, but actual salary will be determined based on location, skills, and experience.
