Nurse Practitioner

Whittier Health Network is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Oak Knoll Healthcare Center. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to all residents, including but not limited to:
- Obtaining report from nurse being relieved and recording sufficient information for follow-up action as necessary
- Providing report to nurse coming on duty, including sufficient information for follow-up action if necessary
- Conducting resident rounds, reporting problems to nursing supervisor and initiating corrective action
- Administering and documenting medication, enteral nutrition, and treatment per physician order and accurately recording all care provided and observations daily
- Performing comprehensive assessments of each resident on unit
- Reviewing and approving admission and readmission nursing assessments completed by an LPN
- Developing care plan based on each resident's assessment
- Obtaining physician orders and any revisions for all treatment and medications needed
- Assessing on a weekly basis the skin condition, stage, size, site, depth, color, drainage, and odor of condition
- Rending immediate assistance to any resident in need
- Supervising and evaluating all direct resident care and initiating corrective action as necessary
- Providing clinical supervision of nursing assistants providing direct patient care
- Assuming responsibility for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations within the assigned unit
- Counseling nursing assistants and communicating clearly with Clinical Nurse Managers and/or Director of Nursing if issues arise
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary team to assure that high-quality resident care is maintained
- Preparing nurse assistant assignments and explaining all pertinent resident care
- Supervising distribution of nourishments
- Supervising the removal of all postural supports
- Ordering, receiving, and documenting medication according to facility procedure
- Supervising response to residents' calls for assistance and responding to call lights as necessary
- Insuring that all physician renewal orders and physician documentation is timely and appropriate
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse school of nursing
- Current and active RN license in the state of Massachusetts
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support in accordance with AHS or ARC standards
- Knowledge of Geriatric Nursing required
