Job Summary

The Paraeducator - Social Emotional Behavioral Support position is a vital role within the Federal Way Public Schools. As a Paraeducator, you will work closely with certified teachers and specialists to provide instructional, tutorial, and clerical support to students with identified disabilities. Your primary focus will be on supporting students with social emotional skills deficits, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to succeed academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional support to students with social emotional skills deficits
  • Assist certified teachers with lesson planning and implementation
  • Supervise students during instructional activities and provide behavioral support as needed
  • Perform clerical tasks, such as data entry and record-keeping
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One of the following: AA degree, 48 college-level semester credits, or pass the state-approved paraeducator assessment test
  • Proficient in basic spelling, math, and grammar skills
  • Experience working with students with disabilities (preferred)
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions. You will be required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, as well as lift and carry up to 25 pounds. You may be exposed to angry, frustrated, or aggressive individuals, and potential exposure to infectious diseases.
