Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisory Healthcare Engineer to join our team at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As a Supervisory Healthcare Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of healthcare facilities, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of healthcare engineers and technicians to ensure that facilities are maintained and operated in accordance with VA standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules to ensure that facilities are properly maintained and that equipment is functioning properly.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify potential safety hazards and develop plans to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that facilities are designed and constructed to meet the needs of patients and staff.
  • Develop and implement training programs for healthcare engineers and technicians to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Develop and manage budgets for maintenance and repair of facilities.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with VA policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in healthcare engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in supervising a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Knowledge of VA policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Ability to conduct regular inspections of facilities.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments.
  • Ability to develop and implement training programs.
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent travel to various VA facilities and occasional work outdoors in all types of weather. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, training rooms, and libraries.
