Job Summary:

The Pathologist Assistant role is a critical position in our laboratory operations, requiring a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to assist in the performance of surgical pathology services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of tissue specimens for histologic examination.
  • Obtain and document clinical history and other relevant information to enhance data accuracy.
  • Perform special procedures, such as tumor triage and coronary artery perfusion, as required.
  • Photograph and document gross specimens and microscopic slides.
  • Assist in the preparation and performance of human postmortem examinations.
  • Participate in quality management initiatives to ensure consistent and high-quality results.
  • Collaborate with pathologists to troubleshoot problem cases and ensure accurate diagnoses.
  • Develop and maintain relevant training programs to enhance staff qualifications and productivity.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science or related field.
  • Completion of a Pathologists Assistant program accredited by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
  • Successful completion of a visual color discrimination test.
  • Annual continuing education units as required by state licensure and/or ASCP guidelines.
