Job Summary:
The Pathologist Assistant role is a critical position in our laboratory operations, requiring a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to assist in the performance of surgical pathology services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and processing of tissue specimens for histologic examination.
- Obtain and document clinical history and other relevant information to enhance data accuracy.
- Perform special procedures, such as tumor triage and coronary artery perfusion, as required.
- Photograph and document gross specimens and microscopic slides.
- Assist in the preparation and performance of human postmortem examinations.
- Participate in quality management initiatives to ensure consistent and high-quality results.
- Collaborate with pathologists to troubleshoot problem cases and ensure accurate diagnoses.
- Develop and maintain relevant training programs to enhance staff qualifications and productivity.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science or related field.
- Completion of a Pathologists Assistant program accredited by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
- Successful completion of a visual color discrimination test.
- Annual continuing education units as required by state licensure and/or ASCP guidelines.
