Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at CAES Mission Systems in Lancaster, PA. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our building, including equipment, property, machinery, and systems. Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary contact for all personnel for any building issues, including climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies, and repairs.
  • Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair, making notes and recommendations.
  • Monitor contractor performance and work closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications.
  • May act as the project coordinator for all size projects, including large-scale repair and new facility construction projects.
  • Assist with maintaining building security and immediately respond to building emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
  • Solicit bids and quotes from vendors and track invoices to ensure timely payment.
  • Perform minor plumbing maintenance, including replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, and replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices.
  • Coordinate and assist with departmental and employee moves.
  • Perform minor electrical maintenance, including replacement or repair of fixtures, using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools.
  • Perform minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work, including preparing surfaces and applying paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.
  • Reconfigure, install, position, and remount modular offices and space to accommodate user needs and maximize office space.
  • Transport goods or equipment as assigned.
  • Escort service contractors to necessary locations for equipment service.
  • Perform immediate cleaning duties necessary to maintain a clean facility.
  • Maintain sidewalks clear of snow and ice.
  • Perform other maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Requirements
  • Minimum: High School diploma or GED.
  • 2 Years' relevant experience.
  • Must have basic understanding of facilities maintenance.
  • Ability to use standard powered and non-powered tools.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software, or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a 'US Person' under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or Technical Certification in a relevant field.
  • 4 Years' relevant experience.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all employees, contractors, and vendors.
  • Strong Organizational skills and ability to provide deliverables in support of project plans.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, and against strict time constraints.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
  • Be able to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl, and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to utilize/view a PC and/or monitor.
  • Must be able to climb steps and ladders, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds on a routine basis.
  • Must be comfortable and able to work on a ladder of 30 feet.
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
  • Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments and shop environments.
  • Must be able to work outside in hot and cold conditions.
