Position Overview

Cybersecurity Engineer (WAF)

What does a successful Cybersecurity Engineer (WAF) do at Fiserv?

In this role, you will collaborate with the "Operational Application Protection Team" to mitigate potential threats to internet-facing web application systems. You will engage regularly with Security Assessment, Security Operations, and Cyber Security Incident Response Teams to identify ongoing threats and develop protective measures for web applications using advanced cybersecurity technologies, including Web Application Firewalls, Network Firewalls, and Intrusion Prevention Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Web Application Firewall configurations.
  • Conduct analysis of false positives related to WAF events.
  • Participate in after-hours work as necessary, including on-call rotations.
  • Serve as a primary interface for business escalations, reviewing trouble tickets and executing necessary actions.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant IT and cybersecurity experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in maintaining cybersecurity technologies for operational web application systems, such as F5 Big IP Application Security Manager and F5 Silverline WAF.
  • 3+ years of experience addressing cybersecurity threats related to internet-facing web applications.
  • 3+ years of experience utilizing NIST CVE data to develop threat response actions.
  • 2+ years of experience analyzing web application network traffic protocols.
  • 1+ year of experience managing production operational systems.
  • 1+ year of experience in scripting or automation to streamline repetitive tasks.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in computer science or a related field.
  • CISSP or other professional cybersecurity certifications.
  • 1+ years of experience with scripting tools such as Python or Bash.
  • 1 year of experience with TCL and iRules, and knowledge of web application vulnerabilities.
  • 1 year of experience with HTTP protocol and understanding of HTTP application traffic.
