Job Title: Credentialing Specialist

At Springfield Hospital, we are seeking a highly skilled Credentialing Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support departmental activities to ensure quality in conducting, maintaining, and communicating practitioner credentialing and privileging.
  • Serve as an essential link and resource between senior management and medical staff to coordinate operational processes and medical staff governance functions.
  • Review, analyze, and follow up with our CVO and internal team to ensure that healthcare professionals are properly credentialed and compliant with all regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Maintain the integrity and quality of our healthcare services, ensuring that all providers meet the necessary standards to deliver safe and effective care.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and regulatory bodies to ensure that all credentialing activities are completed accurately and efficiently.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree; prior work history may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in a hospital or other healthcare setting.
  • Certification as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) (preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Knowledge of medical credentialing procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Working knowledge of clinical and/or hospital operations and procedures.
  • Knowledge of clinical privilege criteria development.
  • Knowledge of medical staff policies, regulations, and bylaws and the legal environment within which they operate.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and draw inferences from research findings, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools.
  • Database management skills including query and report generation.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Credentialing Verification Organization.
