We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate WIC Educator to join our Public Health Agency in Colorado Springs, CO. As a WIC Educator, you will work directly with clients, providing nutrition and breastfeeding support, issuing benefits, and making community referrals. Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a caseload of clients participating in the WIC program.
  • Counsel WIC clients regarding program options, utilizing active listening, goal setting, and care plan development.
  • Determine client eligibility, tailor food packages, and issue benefits to be redeemed at grocery stores.
  • Assess anthropometric data, examine graphs, and interpret results to determine nutritional status.
  • Respond to telephone and in-person inquiries, providing information based on knowledge of County programs and activities.
  • Utilize WIC-specific computerized data entry equipment for benefit issuance and various word processing/file maintenance programs.
  • Schedule appointments, maintain individual educator appointment profiles, and track patients to ensure adherence to scheduled appointments.
  • Refer clients to various support agencies, such as social services, food banks, and mental health organizations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Two years of community health, public health, social services, education, or related experience.
  • Ability to acquire WIC State level 1, 2, and 3 certifications within program timelines.

  • Three or more years of related experience.
