Your Opportunity + Impact
The Construction Services Engineer will serve as a technical leader, fostering relationships with Heavy Highway and Bridge Contractors, coordinating design activities, and ensuring quality assurance and quality control. This role requires a Professional Engineer (PE) license and commensurate work experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Heavy Highway and Bridge Contractors to provide services upon request.
  • Prepare and review design computations, plan designs, and drawings.
  • Review submittals and coordinate project submissions.
  • Prepare and review specifications, draft letters, and written technical reports.
  • Conduct inspections and field work assignments as needed.
  • Research and apply written regulations, code compliance, and permit requirements to design projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work and project records.
  • Stay up-to-date on Codes and Standards applicable to project designs.
  • Develop technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawings.
  • Promote quality assurance and quality control processes to improve deliverables and reduce design errors.
  • Work within assigned budgets.

Education + Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant Engineering field from an ABET-accredited school or related field of study.
  • Minimum of 5 years of job-related experience in design for Heavy Highway or Bridge Construction services engineering. PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge design experience is preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • Strong desire to market LDG Contractor Engineering Services.
  • Thorough knowledge of the design and development process, AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, ASHTO Guide Design Specification for Bridge Temporary Works, and PennDOT Design Manual, Part 4 Specification.
  • Understanding of bridge design, bridge construction plans, and specifications, including special provisions and other related project documents.
  • Experience designing temporary excavation support and protection systems, temporary works formwork/falsework designs, temporary support foundations, superstructure jacking, bridge demolition, and beam erection designs.
  • Steel, concrete, and wood design experience is preferred.
  • Bridge Design-Build, Alternate Design, and Value Engineering experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microstation, Shoring Suite, Enercalc, L-Pile, and PennDOT Bridge Design Software and other related software programs.
  • Strong desire to expand knowledge base and undertake new responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
