Job Title: Centralia School District Paraeducator

Centralia School District is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraeducator to join our team. As a Paraeducator, you will work closely with our special education teachers to provide support and assistance to students with special needs.

Job Summary:

The Paraeducator will assist the classroom teacher in supervising and instructing special education students, following the goals of the student's Individual Education Plan. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and possess a growth mindset.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the classroom teacher in supervising and instructing special education students
  • Implement lesson plans and develop daily living and behavioral skills
  • Administer first aid, medical, and/or physical assistance as needed
  • Monitor individual students, classroom, and/or playground activities to maintain a safe and positive learning environment
  • Perform record keeping and basic clerical functions to support the teacher
  • Attend various meetings to support students and attend trainings as directed
Requirements:
  • Associates' Degree or 72 quarter college credits or have passed the ETS
  • Ability to obtain a Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, possess awareness, listen actively, be patient, incorporate humor/lightheartedness into work, be empathic, possess a growth mindset, and be customer-service oriented
  • Ability to support the District's vision, mission, and goals
  • Ability to maintain timely and professional lines of communication with students, families, staff, and building administration
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to speak Spanish
  • Positive experience working with adolescents
  • Experience working in a K-12 school setting
Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this position is $26.24 per hour, depending on experience. The District also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life insurance, and long-term disability insurance.

Work Schedule:

The work schedule for this position is 7.0 hours per day, Monday through Friday, excluding non-school days. The school year is 192 days.
