Job Summary

At HDR, we are seeking a highly skilled Dam Safety Engineer/Subject Matter Expert to join our team. As a key member of our Hydropower Practice, you will be responsible for supporting inspections and engineering assessments of existing dams and water retaining structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analyses, evaluations, and designs to develop design options or recommendations with supporting calculations.
  • Prepare contract documents, including drawings, specifications, design documentation, and cost estimates.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams on hydropower, pumped storage, and dam safety engineering projects.
  • Participate in risk assessments for dams and hydraulic structures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Geological, or Geotechnical engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in one of the following disciplines: Geotechnical, Geological, Civil/Structural, or Hydrology and Hydraulics.
  • Experience with dams, water conveyances, or other constructed project works and infrastructure associated with hydropower and pumped-storage projects regulated by FERC or other agencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the FERC dam safety regulatory process.
  • FERC dam safety assessment, analysis, and design experience.
  • Hydropower design experience relative to dams, penstocks, intakes, powerhouses, and/or retaining structures.

Compensation Range:

$101,812 - $176,065 (Washington), $117,887 - $199,030 (California), $117,887 - $168,410 (Colorado), $107,170 - $191,375 (New York), $107,170 - $153,100 (Ohio), $112,529 - $160,755 (Maryland), $101,812 - $145,445 (Montana), $128,604 - $183,720 (Washington D).
