About the Role

The Colorado House Democrats are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Operations to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the legislative agenda and managing the day-to-day operations of the House Majority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the policy team and oversee the development of legislative proposals and policy initiatives.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to the Chief of Staff and caucus leadership on legislative and policy matters.
  • Develop and implement effective systems and processes to manage staff workflow, communication, and collaboration.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including members, staff, and external partners.
  • Identify and help resolve policy and political issues as they arise.
Requirements
  • At least two years of experience managing multiple full-time staff.
  • Prior experience in a political role in a state legislature, Congress, or electoral campaign.
  • Prior experience working in Colorado politics.
  • Prior policy experience and/or a graduate degree.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
What We Offer

The salary range for this position is $82,000 and $96,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. We provide a competitive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and a generous flex schedule during the legislative interim.
