Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Technician

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team at Performance Food Group. As a Diesel Mechanic Technician, you will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and overhauling all company fleet diesel equipment to ensure a safe operation for associates' usage and ensure compliance standards are met.

Job Summary:

The Diesel Mechanic Technician will perform preventative maintenance of medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, and convertor dollies under minimal supervision. Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Completing and performing preventative maintenance on minor repairs and standard component inspections/repairs of fleet diesel equipment.
  • Identifying root cause of basic failures/conditions and performing repairs as required.
  • Ensuring equipment has required licensing and registration prior to being deemed as roadworthy.
  • Completing thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
  • Installing, replacing, and repairing onboard computers.
  • Inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition which may require replacement of parts.
  • Performing routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment and machinery requiring the use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
  • Trains/provides guidance to other Mechanics.
Requirements:

To be successful as a Diesel Mechanic Technician, you will need:

  • A High School Diploma/GED or state approved equivalent.
  • 3 - 5 years of proven medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair including PM's, tire & wheel, air & air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair and experience in refrigeration.
  • Preferred certifications in tire & wheel, brakes, AC &/or EPA, DOT inspections, transmissions, engines, ASE Heavy Duty.
