Position Summary

The Grounds Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing the maintenance and management of the gardens and outdoor areas. This includes various landscapes such as green roofs, a fishpond, wooded areas, and resident garden boxes. This role involves both supervisory and hands-on responsibilities, with one direct report.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Grounds and Landscape Committee to plan and execute enhancements to the landscape, including budgeting and cost estimation.
  • Assist in the procurement and installation of plants and flowers, ensuring the aesthetic appeal of the gardens and outdoor spaces.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the grounds to identify and address any issues with plant health and landscape features.
  • Oversee daily operations and ensure that all tasks and responsibilities are completed efficiently.
  • Develop and monitor operating and capital budgets, reporting any discrepancies or needs for additional resources.
  • Work with contracts personnel to manage landscaping services and ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Engage in daily gardening tasks such as planting, weeding, and maintaining the overall health of the gardens.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of outdoor areas, including trash disposal and upkeep of visitor facilities.
  • Prepare and maintain irrigation systems, ensuring proper watering schedules for all plants.
  • Assist with snow removal and other projects as assigned during adverse weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three years of experience in commercial landscaping and grounds maintenance.
  • Relevant degree or certification in horticulture or a related field.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of landscaping chemicals and maintenance practices.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with residents and team members.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Proficiency in English is required; Spanish language skills are a plus.
