We are seeking a skilled Surgical Nurse Specialist to join our team at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. As a leader in patient-centered care, we offer a supportive and dynamic work environment that fosters growth and professional development.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to pre and post-surgical patients, including those undergoing total joint replacements, bariatric, orthopedic, and general surgeries. This is a fast-paced and team-oriented environment where you can hone your nursing skills and take the next step toward critical care in a Level 2 Trauma facility.
Responsibilities- Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, ensuring thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor patients for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to medication.
- Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must possess:
- BLS certification.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of NH or valid compact state.
- Associate Degree from an accredited school of nursing.

Compensation and BenefitsOur compensation package includes a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $95,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as comprehensive benefits, education assistance, and opportunities for career advancement. We also offer a 401(k) Plan with a 100% match on 3% to 9% of pay (based on years of service), Employee Stock Purchase Plan, fertility and family building benefits with Progyny, and adoption assistance.
