About the Role

At Hackensack Meridian Health, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and safety. As a Patient Safety Attendant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of our patients by providing close observation and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide continuous observation and support to patients, staying within arm's length at all times.
  • Notify the registered nurse immediately if you need to leave the patient's bedside or if the patient attempts to leave their bed.
  • Complete the Close Observation Record or Intensive Observation Record as directed by the registered nurse.
  • Ensure bed rails are in the position directed by the registered nurse and keep the bed in the lowest possible position.
  • Keep the call bell within reach and remove all sharp objects from the patient's reach if directed by the nurse.
  • Prevent patients from pulling out tubes, IVs, drains, dressings, etc. by explaining their purpose and importance.
  • Inform the nurse immediately if a patient has loosened a restraint or disrupted a tube or dressing.
  • Report any unusual behavior, such as confusion, disorientation, extreme sleepiness, or hallucinations, to the nurse immediately.
  • Assist with hygiene, toileting, and other tasks under the direct supervision of the registered nurse.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
