Job Overview:
As a vital part of our exceptional marine crew, you will assist with the safe docking and undocking of vessels, ensure guest comfort and safety during voyages, and uphold the cleanliness and presentation of the boat. No prior experience is necessary; we offer comprehensive training. A willingness to learn and a robust work ethic are essential. This entry-level role has the potential to evolve into a fulfilling career within the maritime sector. Team members must adhere to the highest safety standards for both guests and crew while consistently maintaining a professional and welcoming demeanor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to safety protocols to safeguard passengers, crew, and the vessel
- Engage in regular safety and emergency preparedness drills
- Greet guests onboard with exemplary customer service
- Manage lines to secure vessels to the dock
- Maintain lookout duties at the bow, stern, or bridge to identify potential hazards
- Assist with general upkeep of the vessel
- Ensure cleanliness and safety in all communal areas
- Load and unload items such as waste from the vessel
- Deliver outstanding hospitality to guests and colleagues as outlined in our RESPECT Service System
- Arrive ready to work at scheduled times
- Maintain uniform and personal grooming in line with appearance standards
- Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Captain or First Mate
- Assist in cleaning and washing all vessels at each port
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills for basic repairs
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds (Requirement)
- Ability to climb ladders safely
- Follow safety practices, policies, and procedures
- Clean communal areas (restrooms, offices, dining areas, hallways) including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning windows, and emptying trash
- Help maintain inventory control of tools, equipment, and supplies.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age
- Pre-employment and ongoing random drug testing are mandatory for all marine personnel
- Must effectively understand and communicate written and verbal information to guests and coworkers
- Strong emphasis on safety and teamwork while actively seeking ways to assist others
- Will work for extended periods without sitting
- Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds; moving furniture and other heavy items such as provisions up and down stairs
- Must be able to throw mooring lines from ship to pier
- Must have normal color vision to interpret navigational lights and color-sensitive systems & safety displays
- Open to working nights, weekends, and major holidays
- In accordance with US Coast Guard regulations, must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident
