Vascular Ultrasound Specialist:


The Vascular Ultrasound Specialist independently conducts professional-level evaluations and a range of non-invasive examinations utilizing ultrasound and related diagnostic technologies as appropriate, documenting the findings and clinical preliminary impressions as necessary.

The outcomes of these assessments are critical in guiding patient care decisions. This role requires a fully competent Vascular Ultrasound Specialist with expertise in peripheral vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.

The specialist will assess complex medical conditions using advanced equipment for arterial and venous evaluations and will engage in the routine maintenance and care of the equipment.

All assessments are performed following established protocols on adult and geriatric patients, and occasionally on adolescents and pediatric populations.

The specialist conducts examinations in both clinical and hospital environments using both stationary and portable devices.

The specialist communicates preliminary findings of examination results to referring physicians within the organization and external clinics.

Daily interactions with healthcare professionals and families are expected.

The specialist must address challenges related to the daily requirements of patients, the department, and/or clinic while adhering to professional standards for documentation and timeliness.

The specialist serves as a clinical educator for the affiliated ultrasound program and contributes to the training of fellows, residents, and visiting physicians.

Participation in clinical research may also be part of the role, acting as a clinical resource for staff at their facility and across the network.


Minimum Qualifications:

Facility Requirement:


Candidate must have a permanent residence outside a specified radius from the facility (permanent address must be included in the candidate's profile, including resume/work history and all onboarding documentation).


Experience:
At least one year of vascular imaging experience is required.
Candidate must have experience in an Academic Level - Trauma center or a similar-sized hospital.
Prior travel experience is highly preferred.

Licensure and Certification:
Registered in vascular ultrasound (RVT or RVS).
BLS certification must be obtained through the American Heart Association ONLY.

Education:


Successful completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited ultrasound program, Associate Degree in Biological Sciences, Radiology, Ultrasound, or a related health sciences field.


References:


Two completed references from recent work environments/assignments (supervisor or manager only for work performed in the last two years) are required.

Travelers are the first to float to units working with children up to 1 year of age and/or based on the candidate's competency skills/experience.

The candidate may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization.

If the primary unit no longer requires the candidate's services during the assignment, shifts will be reassigned to another unit to fulfill the contract.
