Job Summary

The Patient Safety Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care:
    • Communicate patient/family needs and/or concerns to the healthcare team.
    • Assist with patient ambulation, if appropriate, under the direction of the RN.
    • Engage patients in interactive activities to promote safety and comfort.
    • Receive and assist with the setup of patient food trays and snacks under the direct supervision of the RN.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Receive report from RN and/or off-going patient safety attendant at the start of shift.
    • Give report to RN and oncoming patient safety attendant before relinquishing responsibilities.
    • Keep RN informed of any changes in patient behaviors/status.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Stay current with state and federal regulations and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
    • Ensure all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
    • Complete all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in a timely manner.
    • Ensure patient rooms are kept clean, comfortable, and safe for patients and families.
    • Report any safety-related incidents in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool.
Requirements
  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or GED - Required
  • Certification and Licensures:
    • BLS (American Heart Association) - Required
    • Fingerprint Clearance Card application number - Required upon hire
    • Fingerprint Clearance Card - Required within 90 days of hire
  • Experience:
    • Healthcare experience is preferred, with a focus on patient safety and care.
