Job Summary

This role is responsible for achieving sales goals and building relationships with customers in the assigned territory.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the meat and seafood category and be able to effectively communicate the value of Sysco's products to customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Establish and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers in the assigned territory.
  2. Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve sales goals and maximize profitability.
  3. Make in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers to promote Sysco's products and services.
  4. Take customer orders with SSMG goals in mind, including sales and GP/Stop maximization.
  5. Participate in Sysco Specialty Meat Group (SSMG) training and customer events.
  6. Develop a relationship with accounts payable (A/P) contact at every account and participate in communication between them and SSMG account receivable manager/representative.
  7. Implement Ask Early and Often to control days sales outstanding (DSOs) and know signs to know when to say No Ship or Cash on Delivery (COD).
  8. Update bid files, customer profiles, and customer call sheets to ensure proper pricing and accuracy of needed items.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A High School diploma
  • A 4-year degree in culinary arts, business, marketing, agriculture/animal science or related studies (preferred)
  • 2-year prior food service and/or sales background (strongly preferred)
Professional Skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Deep expertise of meat and seafood category or restaurant/culinary background
  • Consultative sales ability
  • Self-motivation and accountability for time management
  • Strong customer relations skills and a sense of urgency in meeting customer needs
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Outlook
