Team Overview:

Luminar Technologies is in search of an Automotive Program Management Specialist to guide projects through all engineering phases of the product lifecycle. This position is crucial for overseeing cross-functional technical collaboration within Luminar and ensuring effective customer development and value delivery. The Automotive Program Management Specialist will play a vital role in the product development management team, concentrating on the implementation of cutting-edge technology for next-generation automotive sensing platforms. In this capacity, you will collaborate with functional leads, Direct Responsible Individuals (DRIs), and other platform Technical Program Managers (TPMs) to successfully deliver projects to clients. Furthermore, you will serve as an engineering liaison for internal stakeholders while managing the cross-functional development team.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate across functions to convert program requirements and milestones into detailed execution plans for engineering teams.
  • Drive the execution of these plans, conduct team meetings, communicate progress, and identify/resolve any blocking issues.
  • Engage with fellow TPMs on all technical aspects of development.
  • Work directly with OEMs to align on product specifications, performance, and integration of the sensor platform into the OEM environment.
  • Promptly escalate risks and issues and drive them to resolution.
  • Proactively coordinate across functional groups to manage dependencies among Hardware, Software, and suppliers.
  • Continuously assess internal processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Oversee engineering alignment within Luminar's product development framework.
  • Prepare and distribute project status reports, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Collaborate closely with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to support and transition for SAFE Launch and Start-of-Production (SOP).
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical project/program management within the automotive sector.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools such as MS Project, Confluence, Jira, and ERP tools like Arena.
  • Experience in defining release readiness criteria, ensuring compliance before deployment.
  • Able to effectively collaborate with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project Management Certification.
  • Knowledge of Embedded Systems and Software.
  • Experience in the development of hardware products.
  • Master's degree in an Engineering or Technical field.
  • Experience with Automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.

At Luminar, your base salary is one component of your total compensation package. This role offers a base salary ranging from $102,000 to $199,000 per year. Within this range, individual compensation is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. You will also be eligible for additional benefits, including equity in the form of restricted stock unit awards, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, a 401k plan, life and disability benefits, flexible time off, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement for formal education related to advancing your career at Luminar. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire and schedule type.
