This role is responsible for providing medical support in a pharmacy setting. Key responsibilities include obtaining accurate documentation, communicating with customers, and preparing orders for shipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain complete and accurate documentation for prescription fulfillment and billing.
  • Communicate with customers to answer questions and refill medications and/or supplies.
  • Prepare and process customer orders in a timely and accurate manner.
Medical Clerical Duties:
  • Review and enter Confirmation of Orders, medical documentation to fulfill dispensing RXs and Billing RXs for pharmacy and Medicare.
  • Generate accurate Confirmation of Orders to be faxed to providers for approval.
  • Communicate with providers to obtain required documentation.
  • Perform daily follow-up with providers to ensure required documentation is obtained.
  • Communicate with customers via inbound and outbound manual and/or automated calls.
  • Enter customer orders.
  • Verify and update demographic information, such as address and telephone number, as well as document information.
  • Troubleshoot issues with customer accounts, such as tracking packages and prescription questions.
Distribution/Shipping Duties:
  • Prepare box stock for use by operating a box taping machine or by hand taping of boxes.
  • View customer orders in a computerized order system and pull and package appropriate equipment and/or medications to fill orders.
  • Affix proper prescription and barcode labels to medication boxes and forward the filled order to the pharmacist for verification prior to shipment.
  • Stock work stations with appropriate supplies and product/equipment.
  • Prepare packages for shipment using computerized shipping systems by creating and affixing accurate shipping labels, sorting the packages by carrier, and stacking them in the appropriate area for pickup by the designated carrier.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, shipping supply areas, and work stations neat.
  • May operate a forklift and/or pallet jack.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to use both computer and phone to provide communication.
  • Ability to hold a state Pharmacy Technician License as required in the state of jurisdiction.
  • When required, must be able to pass a medical clearance and fit test for personal protective equipment (PPE).
Education and Experience:
  • Graduate from an accredited high school or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of clerical/office experience.
  • Education to meet state licensure requirements as directed by the state of jurisdiction.
