Position Overview
The Training Simulator Testing unit plays a crucial role in deploying advanced, high-fidelity simulators for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP). These simulators are essential for the effective training and qualification of Naval Nuclear Operators within the NNPP training framework. In this role, the engineer will be involved in the initial design, testing, and deployment of simulators to various training commands.

Key Responsibilities
This position involves significant visibility and requires close collaboration with fellow engineers at NNL, as well as interaction with external organizations, including Naval Reactors. The role may also involve travel, estimated at around 10%.

Required Qualifications
Applicants must possess a combination of education and experience, including:

  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science-related field with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or
  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical field with qualification as a Naval Nuclear Plant Operator and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience based on exceptional performance; or
  • A Master's degree in engineering or a science-related field with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or
  • A Master's degree in a technical field with qualification as a Naval Nuclear Plant Operator and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience based on exceptional performance; or
  • Current or previous qualifications as Shift Supervisor Part II, or qualified SIT with 3 years EOOW experience in the Nuclear Operations Program; or 6 years as SRE; or SRE qualified with 9 years of experience.

Preferred Skills
Experience in conducting shipboard or simulator test programs and S9G mechanic experience or comparable expertise are highly desirable.
