Head Start Teacher Aide

The Head Start Teacher Aide/Bus Driver is a vital member of our team at SCMCAA, responsible for providing exceptional support to our teachers and ensuring the safe transportation of our children. This role requires a unique blend of teaching and driving skills, making it an exciting opportunity for those who enjoy working with children and are comfortable behind the wheel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers with daily activities and lesson planning to meet the individual needs of our children.
- Develop and implement classroom activities that promote learning and development.
- Transport children safely to and from the center, following a pre-determined route and monitoring their safety at all times.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintain a clean and safe vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with parents and staff to ensure a positive and supportive environment.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or willingness to obtain.
- Knowledge of program curriculum and developmentally appropriate practice.
- Ability to work well with children and parents in a positive and constructive manner.
- Valid CDL license with all required endorsements.
Working Conditions:
- May be exposed to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
- May be required to lift 55 pounds or more.
- May be required to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
