Position Overview:
We are seeking an Internal Audit Specialist I to join our Compliance team. This position is remote, with potential travel required to our main office or the nearest FreedomCare hub.

Key Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Assistant Manager of Auditing, the Internal Audit Specialist I will:

  • Conduct audits on cases to pinpoint risk areas in line with regulatory guidelines, including reviewing timesheets, clock-in times, and onboarding documents.
  • Stay informed on relevant regulations and serve as a subject matter expert to educate and train colleagues.
  • Apply findings from a risk-based compliance work plan to audits effectively.
  • Execute investigative actions as directed by management, adhering to established procedures for inquiries, grievances, and governmental interactions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of regulatory requirements for assigned jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with General Managers of assigned areas and participate in regular meetings.
  • Work alongside team members on audits and projects, ensuring high-quality and efficient output in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Monitor jurisdictions daily and promptly escalate any issues to management.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare audits, investigations, and handling grievances.
  • Familiarity with regulations across multiple states.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with staff and leadership.
  • Proven time management and adaptability.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet performance metrics and specific criteria.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with various stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to project ownership and critical decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional desirable skills include:

  • Knowledge of Medicaid-funded personal assistance programs across different states.
  • Experience with Salesforce or Medflyt systems.
