About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing future simulation and analysis capabilities for next-generation naval systems and land-based sensor networks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop software in a teamed environment to realize new analysis capabilities for comparison to live tactical radar data.
  • Work with radar and combat systems engineers to identify and solve problems that impact mission requirements.
  • Develop detailed physics-based simulations that provide unprecedented realism and new levels of understanding of system performance in operationally realistic environments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • Experience developing physics-based simulations or DoD combat system performance models.
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices and tools such as Git, Jenkins, Jira, and Atlassian products.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent technical discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience collaborating in or leading software development teams.
  • Experience working on DoD programs particularly in the area of Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis, preferably to radars or other sensors.
