Job Description

Haven Behavioral Healthcare is an 86-acute care Joint Commission Accredited psychiatric hospital providing specialty behavioral health services for adults dealing with mental health conditions and co-occurring disorders.

We are seeking a Care Coordination Specialist to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain authorization for each admitted patient through thorough review and analysis of medical records and treatment plans.
  • Monitor the authorization process, identifying potential problems and proactively addressing them to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and therapists to validate patient assessments and treatment plans, ensuring consistency in facility documentation.
  • Track enrollment status continuously, acting on changes and initiating retrospective reviews as necessary.
  • Maintain cumulative documentation regarding actions initiated by staff and self, promoting transparency and accountability.
  • Conduct reviews to guarantee services and documentation adhere to facility protocols, applicable laws and regulations, and funding source requirements.
  • Communicate authorization status, issues, or problems to relevant staff members, fostering open communication and teamwork.
  • Nurture positive and professional relationships with external sources, including payers and vendors.
  • Minimize appeals by ensuring timely and accurate documentation.

Educational Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in a Behavioral Health field or equivalent experience is required. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and insurance and billing practices is essential for success in this role.
