Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Healthcare Information Specialist to join our team at SmartTalent. As a key member of our healthcare organization, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient health information, ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines, and providing exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient health information in electronic health records (EHRs)
  • Process releases of information (ROIs) in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with company policy and HIPAA guidelines
  • Sort and distribute mail and faxes to appropriate clinic staff
  • Assist with data collection for chart audits and quality reviews as assigned
  • Respond to EHR tasks and telephone calls, providing timely and accurate information to patients and healthcare providers

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Preferred: Post-high school education in office/clerical coursework
  • Experience in a multiple-provider medical practice
  • Healthcare information systems experience, including electronic health records and practice management systems
  • Customer service experience working with the general public

Preferred Credentials:

  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification
