Position Summary:

The City of Everett Parent Information Center Nurse is responsible for ensuring that all children entering the Everett Public School System are up to date with all medical information. This role requires a high level of organization and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures student immunization status meets Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations.

• Reports immunization status of school entrants to the schools.

• Reviews all records for incoming Everett students and ensures they are complete for school entry.

• Sets up health charts for students that are approved for school entry.

• Reaches out to students' parents/guardians for missing health information, as needed.

• Maintains individual health records for each student.

• Collaborates with parents, physicians, and other healthcare providers, as needed.

• Carries out communicable disease prevention and infection control.

• Inputs all health information into the school reporting system, Aspen X2.

• Notifies the school nurse of any students with allergies or complex medical conditions.

• Delivers all completed health charts to their respective schools on a weekly basis.

• Assists in covering school buildings when needed.

• Promotes a healthy and safe school environment within the school building for students and staff.

• Assists with health department programming and services, as needed.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

• Valid license as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.

• Minimum of 2 years' experience.

• Nursing experience in school, pediatric, public health, or other relevant clinical areas is preferred.

• Possesses a valid driver's license and has the use of a vehicle for the performance of one's duties.

• Maintains certification in CPR/AED and First Aid from a recognized provider, e.g. American Heart Association.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and maturity in handling sensitive information, participant interaction, and community relations.

• Demonstrated facilitation and public speaking skills.

• Ability to organize, plan, and manage multiple tasks.

• Ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines.

• Provides nursing coverage to schools as needed.
